Job Summary

The Communications Manager will lead the development and execution of strategic communication and change management initiatives ensuring consistent, compelling messaging that aligns with NorthStar Clean Energy’s Mission and business priorities. This role focuses on crafting internal communications to foster open communication that drives employee engagement along with external communications and materials to enhance our brand presence with customers and prospects in the energy industry. The ideal candidate brings a proven track record in energy-related communication, with the ability to navigate complex technical topics and stakeholder dynamics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage internal communications by processing and responding to inbound requests across the organization timely and accurately.
  • Draft internal messaging for key events, including town halls, board meetings, lunch and learn sessions, annual company employee meeting to promote alignment and engagement.
  • Plan and coordinate the internal newsletter, curating content that informs and inspires employees. This position may also assist in supporting localized plant newsletters and communications.
  • Maintain the management of our intranet by optimizing its use for streamlined accurate communications.
  • Develop external messaging for collateral (corporate brochure, one-pagers), website, and social media content highlighting NorthStar projects, capabilities and achievements.
  • Create presentations for external events and origination requests, including pitch decks to support business development efforts.
  • Prepare briefing documents and talking points for external events enabling effective representation of NorthStar Clean Energy’s position and expertise.
  • Support RFP processes by developing external messaging and proposal messaging points that articulate value propositions clearly and persuasively.
  • Draft all press releases ensuring they meet brand standards and amplify NorthStar Clean Energy organization.
  • Conduct thought leadership research across trade and industry associations, submit pitch abstracts on behalf of NorthStar to position the company as an industry leader. 

What You Bring

  • Exceptional writing skills — and the range to shift between technical, conversational, and strategic.
  • A natural ability to connect with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with digital platforms (intranet, SharePoint, etc.).
  • Curiosity and strategic thinking — you know how to turn complex concepts into stories that people get.
  • Energy industry knowledge is a plus, but not required. 

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, PR, Marketing, or a related field (required).
  • Master’s degree (nice to have).
  • 7+ years of hands on experience in communications or similar roles.
  • Experience developing major comms initiatives, crisis or incident communications, media relations, or customer marketing.
