Freedom Compression, Northville Compression, Ray Compression, Overisel Compression, Muskegon River Compression, Parnall Complex (Parnall West or JSC), White Pigeon Compression, Owosso Service Center, Midland Service Center, St. Clair Service Center, Livonia Service Center.
The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).
General Summary of Job Responsibilities
The Manager of Engineering of Compression EI&C serves as the asset owner and is responsible for leading a team of engineers focused on the engineering and support of the Compressor Station fleet power, instrumentation and controls assets. This role provides technical leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective execution of engineering deliverables. The Manager will serve as the primary engineering point of contact for compression facility work, collaborating cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and external partners to align project outcomes with company goals. This role will drive operational excellence and collaborative stakeholder engagement to drive measurable impact across the gas delivery system.
The Manager of Engineering is responsible for overseeing the work of an engineering team . Acts as a liaison between the engineering team and upper management, providing regular updates on project status and ensuring that everyone is on the same page with regards to goals, objectives, and other important details. The Manager of Engineering will work closely with other departments, such as operations, marketing, etc., to ensure the engineering team is meeting the needs of the Consumers Energy. Works cross functionally with other Mangers of Engineering to develop and implement new processes or procedures within the engineering department to include creating training programs for new hires, updating existing training materials, and creating systems for tracking projects, tasks, etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure that all engineering activities are conducted in compliance with company policies and procedures
- Plan, direct, and coordinate the work of employees engaged in the design, development, testing, and manufacture of electrical, electronic, mechanical, and/or software components, systems, and products
- Review and approve project proposals, plans, and designs to ensure feasibility and conformance with customer requirements and company standards
- Prepare reports and presentations for upper management, shareholders, and/or other stakeholders as needed
- Stay abreast of new technologies and developments in the engineering field to ensure that the company remains at the forefront of the industry
- Serve as the engineering point of contact of specified area for assigned projects, programs, and/or products. Oversee all aspects of assigned engineering projects from initiation through delivery, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, and technical performance requirements
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external customers, partners, and supplier. And provide leadership and mentorship for a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff
- Investigate root causes of customer complaints and product failures, and develop corrective action plans to prevent recurrence. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness

Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program OR Engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program plus a Professional Engineering license with 4 - 7 years of experience with successful delivery of engineering projects
