Location: This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and may be assigned to any Consumers Energy Service Center located throughout Michigan's lower Peninsula. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).
General Summary of Job Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Apply strong analytical skills to research, assess, design, implement, and support moderately complex projects in partnership with Project Managers, Team Leaders, and subject matter experts. Typically supports one to two projects or enhancements in addition to daily operational work, with moderate supervision.
- Contribute to system design, configuration, solution testing, defect troubleshooting, and the creation of detailed documentation and technical specifications.
- Serve as the primary resource for daily system operations and maintenance, including data analysis and cleansing, testing, file imports and exports, workflow development and support, manual system and data updates, and setup of system forms and processes.*
- Independently troubleshoot moderate- to high‑complexity technical issues.
- Support change management, user adoption, and system operations by developing, updating, and governing system documentation (e.g., process flows, job aids, troubleshooting guides, administration tools, functional and technical specifications, configuration workbooks, etc.).
- Perform data quality monitoring and implement automation solutions.
- Conduct testing for advanced technology solutions.
- Design, build, distribute, and govern standard and ad‑hoc reports using reporting tools; generate and monitor ongoing report accuracy and performance.
- Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements.
- Maintain data governance and master data management practices in alignment with company policies and industry best practices.
- Provide support for release management activities.
- Create, refine, and maintain geospatial applications (ArcGIS Online & Enterprise Platforms), web maps, and data integrations.
- Demonstrate familiarity with Power BI and visual management principles; support existing dashboards and basic visualization needs.
- Utilize Microsoft Power Automate to work within existing flows, develop simple workflows, and support basic automations that improve process efficiency.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Strong analytical acumen and advanced problem‑solving skills.
- Solid understanding of reporting tools, including but not limited to Power BI.
- Ability to effectively and concisely document and communicate moderately to highly complex technical solutions to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Basic knowledge of data structures, reporting and analytics, and foundational SAP configuration or other relevant data systems.
- Ability to provide both formal and informal guidance to lower‑level team members.
- Comprehensive knowledge of data structures, reporting/analytics practices, and SAP configuration.
- Strong skills in designing and executing testing strategies and test plans for advanced technology solutions.
- Familiarity with SQL concepts and ability to leverage SQL to support data review and reporting.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology/Systems, Business, or a related field, with two (2) or more years of experience in system analysis, design, configuration, testing, troubleshooting/defect resolution, deployment, documentation, operations, and end‑user support (service desk). Experience designing and building low‑ to moderate‑complexity reports and dashboards is preferred. Moderate knowledge of SAP and data automation is required.
- [OR] Associate’s degree in Information Technology/Systems, Business, or a related field, with four (4) or more years of experience in system analysis, design, configuration, testing, troubleshooting/defect resolution, deployment, documentation, operations, and end‑user support (service desk). Experience designing and building low‑ to moderate‑complexity reports and dashboards is preferred. Moderate knowledge of SAP and data automation is required.
- [OR] High School Diploma with six (6) or more years of experience in system analysis, design, configuration, testing, troubleshooting/defect resolution, deployment, documentation, operations, and end‑user support (service desk). Experience designing and building low‑ to moderate‑complexity reports and dashboards is preferred. Moderate knowledge of SAP and data automation is required.
Preferred Experience
- Participation in large‑scale enhancements or new system implementation projects.
