Location: This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday assigned to either the Livonia Service Center, Royal Oak Service Center, or One Energy Plaza. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).
General Summary of Job Responsibilities
The Senior Platform Engineer will lead the development and expansion of our internal AI bot platform, which serves as the primary resource for coworkers seeking answers. This role involves scoping, building, and deploying solutions within the AI bot platform, as well as collaborating with other application teams to implement integrations via APIs and webhooks—such as event triggers, queries, and decision paths. You will partner with various business units to ingest new knowledge sources from platforms like SharePoint and ServiceNow. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing rules and criteria to automatically route IT, Security, HR, and Supply Chain tickets to the appropriate teams, eliminating the need for manual intervention.
This role also ensures the platform remains secure and stable. You will monitor platform performance and the health of integrations built on the platform, including APIs. Responsibilities include reviewing audit and change logs for updates or modifications to the platform and its integrations, and responding promptly to any incidents or security concerns.
The Senior Platform Engineer provides design, implementation, management, and Tier 3 technical support for hardware and software platforms. You will troubleshoot complex infrastructure and application platform issues, often in collaboration with teams such as server, network, and information security. As a subject matter expert, you will develop strategies for platform security, compliance, and cost optimization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices
- Develop security and compliance strategies for infrastructure and application platforms
- Troubleshoot complex issues and lead root cause analysis
- Lead automation and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) initiatives
- Design and implement high-availability infrastructure and platform solutions
- Serve as a subject matter expert for the platform
- Optimize cloud and on-premises environments for performance and cost efficiency
- Perform other duties as assigned
Additional Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure all integrations comply with security and change management policies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement integration patterns and best practices
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to gather requirements, provide updates, and deliver solutions
- Administer the AI bot developer platform, including access reviews, permission settings, and system-to-system HTTP(s) connector configurations
- Design, develop, and maintain experience APIs with a focus on usability, scalability, and innovation (primarily using REST APIs)
- Integrate new knowledge sources to enhance the AI bot’s self-service capabilities
- Develop and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Maintain architecture diagrams and documentation for standards and policies

- [OR] High School Diploma/GED with eight (8) or more years of experience in a platform engineer role
