Location: This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and may be assigned to any Consumers Energy Service Center located throughout Michigan's lower Peninsula.  The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify). 

General Summary of Job Responsibilities

The Senior Leadership Development Manager designs, implements, facilitates, and continuously improves leadership and professional development programs that build capabilities aligned with business goals and priorities. This role owns an assigned portfolio of leadership & professional development programs and is accountable for the full program lifecycle, including needs assessment, program design, stakeholder engagement, program delivery, measurement, and ongoing improvement to ensure effective learning outcomes and business impact. Serving as a trusted advisor to business leaders, HR partners, and key stakeholders, the role assesses capability needs, builds alignment around development priorities, and translates talent insights into scalable, impactful development experiences. The Sr Leadership Development Manager facilitates development experiences, supports leader growth through coaching and consultation, and manages internal and external partners to ensure high-quality program outcomes and measurable impact.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leverage learning technologies, AI-enabled tools, benchmarking, data, and Lean practices to continuously improve development programs, enhance participant experiences, and drive measurable outcomes.
  • Lead design, delivery, and continuous improvement of assigned leadership and professional development programs. Translate business priorities and capability needs into clear program objectives, development journeys and measurable outcomes.
  • Design and facilitate engaging leadership and professional development experiences using a variety of learning methods, including cohort programs, coaching, assessments, experiential learning, digital learning, and peer learning to build capabilities and accelerate application of learning.
  • Select, engage, and manage internal partners, external vendors, coaches, facilitators, and other resources. Montior quality, deliverables, contractual commitments, and use of program resources.
  • Lead multiple programs and workstreams simultaneously while ensuring timely, consistent, and high-quality execution. Establish and manage program plans, milestones, governance, communications and stakeholder engagement and resource needs to ensure successful program delivery.
  • Partners with business leaders, HR, and key stakeholders to assess leadership and professional capability needs, identify development priorities, and provide expert guidance on development solutions that align with business goals and drive organizational impact.
  • Define success measures and evaluate program effectiveness using participation, experience, behavior, capability, talent, and relevant business indicators. Translate insights into recommendations and continuous improvements.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Program and portfolio management
  • Advanced coaching, consulting, and executive presence skills, with the ability to influence and develop at all levels.
  • Strong relationship-building, colloboration and influencing skills
  • Proficiency with learning technologies, AI-enabled tools, and data analytics
  • Ability to assess development needs and design, facilitate, coach, or recommend appropriate solutions
  • In depth knowledge of leadership and professional development theories and practices, with the ability to design and deliver effective development solutions aligned with business needs.
  • Knowledge of systems thinking, organizational development, talent management, and/or change management practices.
  • Ability to apply Lean methods and data insights to improve processes, participant experiences, and program outcomes.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, or relevant field and 4+ years of experience in Organization Development, HR, Business, Education, or related experience.
  • [OR] Associate's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, or relevant field and 6+ years of experience in Organization Development, HR, Business, Education, or related experience.
  • [OR] High School diploma and 8+ years of experience in Organization Development, HR, Business, Education, or related experience.
