This position has opportunities to work in a virtual/onsite hybrid work environmentConsumers Energy has facilities all around the state of Michigan (Lower Peninsula only).  Candidate must be located within 30 miles of a Consumers Energy Service Center OR willing to relocate.

Department Summary

The Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) function is led by the Enterprise Resource Planning department, which is responsible for the ongoing creation, implementation, and maturation of a world class Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system that provides the forum for strategic and proactive data-based decision making. The ERP process brings transparency to forecasted resource demands, availability, and gaps. It is used to support operational, financial, and strategic decision making.

 

Job Description/Responsibilities

 

The Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) Business Consultant is responsible for driving deployment and process adoption across organizations and leadership levels, integrating data analytics and modeling within the ERP process, and supporting improvements to the current ERP process. The Business Consultant will coach and guide leaders/participants so that they and their respective organizations become more adept at aligning demand with resources, understanding gaps, and making decisions using data-based scenarios. This position reports to the Manager of Enterprise Resource Planning.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide leaders and executive leaders insights to support decision making and alignments with strategic, financial, and operational plans.
  • Form and lead cross-functional teams from across business processes and leadership levels to reconcile and resolve projected resource requirements and gaps.
  • Coach business partners in the fundamentals of demand and supply planning, with particular focus on the visibility to resource planning.
  • Support the expansion and optimization of the ERP process across organizations through collaboration and alignment with business partners.
  • Drive organizational adoption of the ERP process to improve visibility and utilization of resources (labor hours, materials, fleet, etc.).
  • Continuously improve the ERP process and data quality through simplification of data integration, development of work standards, and process efficiencies.
  • Provide meaningful insights into the data to guide the business in aligning demand with resources to understand the gaps.
  • Create and automate various operational reports to be used for business planning, resource optimization, and management reviews.
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and comprehend large and complex data sets to build actionable strategies.
  • Provide insight into best practices through reporting tools and ERP platforms.
  • Create and maintain reporting standards and tools to help business partners make cross-functional decisions.
  • Support planners, analysts, and leaders to improve ERP data.

 

Requirements/Qualifications

 

  • 8 + more years of applicable exempt work experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree in the applicable field of study; less than bachelor’s degree may be acceptable if accompanied by extensive Company or industry experience in positions that demonstrate required abilities and performance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels of an organization.

  • Strong organizational skills and great proficiency with processes.

Preferred skills:

  • 2+ years of experience with formal Resource Modeling, Demand and Supply Planning, or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP).
  • 2+ years of experience with Financial Planning or related roles working with operations teams.
  • Advanced, hands on application of ERP data aggregation and reporting.

 

Hours and Travel

 

This position requires the individual work a minimum of 40 hours per week. Flexible work hours can be discussed and accommodated on an individual basis.

The role will require occasional in-state travel.
