Consumers Energy has facilities all around the state of Michigan (Lower Peninsula only).  Candidate must be located within 30 miles of a Consumers Energy Service Center 


Department Summary


This position is located within Electric Standards and Document Control, and reports to the Work Order Process Team (WOPT) Section Head.  The WOPT is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate unitization of electric location assets.


Job Duties/Responsibilities


The position applies a diversified knowledge of Consumers Energy’s work order process to ensure work orders are unitized in a timely fashion. The position will be responsible for the analysis, allocation, and removal of new and existing location property assets for capital and demand work orders. The position’s primary responsibility is to populate and verify the accuracy of the work order’s enhancement tab in SAP. Additionally, the job is responsible for ensuring accuracy of material charges to electric location capital work orders.  The position will need to work cooperatively with Field Organizations, Property Accounting, Supply Chain, and HVD Engineering to be successful.




  • 3+ years of applicable work experience
  • Two-year associate degree in the requisite scientific or technical field (48 scientific or technical credit hours as measured on a semester basis). 
    • The 48 scientific or technical credit hours can be obtained through colleges, technical institutes, licensed apprenticeship programs, trade schools, or military programs.  Further, some employees in this job family may be required to possess local, state or federal licenses and/or certifications in order to carry out their assigned job duties.


The following skills may set you apart from others:

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge and experience with Visual Basic for Applications.
  • Knowledge and experience working in various SAP platforms and Power Plan.
  • Knowledge of high voltage distribution system materials and equipment.
  • Experience using Computer Aided Design (MicroStation experience preferred).
  • An understanding of electric utility construction practices.
  • An understanding of fixed asset accounting.
