Location: This position is onsite at the {SERVICE CENTER} located in {City, State}. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).
General Summary of Job Responsibilities
The Program Engineer is responsible for engineering and technical disciplines for assigned projects. The incumbent will schedule, plan, forecast, resource and manage technical activities aimed at assuring project accuracy and quality from conception to completion. Specifically, this position supports the Ludington Pumped Storage Corrective Work project team mechanical engineering activities. This role focuses on vendor submittal and drawing reviews, mechanical fitment, outage preparation and execution, quality control, contractor oversight, welding review and acceptance, and outage close-out. Outages range from 30 days to over 600 days and are planned to continue through at least 2031.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare, schedule, coordinate and monitor assigned engineering projects
- Build strong partnerships with business partners and obtain a solid understanding their business goals
- Support the Agile project delivery cadence by helping balance team performance with tight deadlines
- Review vendor submittals and mechanical drawings for accuracy and compliance.
- Verify mechanical fitment and ensure proper integration of components.
- Assist with outage planning, scheduling, and resource coordination.
- Support outage execution, including on-site quality control and issue resolution.
- Oversee mechanical contractors to ensure adherence to project standards.
- Review and approve welding work per specifications and quality requirements.
- Participate in outage close-out activities, including documentation and lessons learned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent knowledge of design and visualizations software such as AutoCAD
- Proficient in MS Office, with aptitude for learning new software
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong understanding of GD&T principles
- Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards
- Prefer welding experience
- Ability and desire to become a Certified Weld Inspector (CWI)
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program OR Engineering degree from a non-ABET accredited program plus a Professional Engineering license and 2 - 4 years of experience in program engineering roles or related work.
- Preferred degree in Mechanical Engineering
