Location: This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and may be assigned to any Consumers Energy Service Center located near Fossil Generation sites throughout Michigan's lower Peninsula. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).
General Summary of Job Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate outage activities across operations, maintenance, engineering, supply chain, and vendors.
- Develop long lead material and service requirements for periodic and forced outages
- Provide contractor construction (field) oversight for online or outage capital and O&M projects to ensure safe and efficient operations
- Support the development, maintenance, and analysis of outage KPIs (e.g., planned vs. actual duration, critical path adherence, scope growth) and prepare performance reports for management.
- Develop and maintain preventative maintenance strategies and long-range outage planning plans.
- Track and manage all outage schedules. Lead pre-outage, outage, and post-outage meetings with site leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and timely completion of outages
- Provide guidance, mentoring, and technical support to outage planning professionals.
- Plan, coordinate, and manage outage schedules, milestones, and readiness indicators across site and/or fleet operations.
- Develop, track, and manage outage cost controls, budgets, and change tracking.
- Monitor outage execution and support outage extension risks when needed for multiple sites.
- Other duties as assigned or may be necessary
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Proficiency with SAP, scheduling software, and performance metrics.
- Functional understanding of power plant systems (GT, ST, BOP)
- Able to lead problem solving efforts with cross-functional teams
- Outage planning lifecycle, governance, and project management.
- Ability to productively work independently and as an overall integral plant staff team member
- Ability to understand complex contractual issues as they relate to plant operations and maintenance
- Displays good judgment; willingness to take responsibility and initiative to make decisions within scope of responsibility
- Ability to influence cross-functional partners without direct authority.
Education / Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or related technical field and 4+ years of experience in outage planning, maintenance, operations, or power generation.
- Assoicates Degreee in Business or related technical field and 6+ years of experience in outage planning, maintenance, operations, or power generation.
- High School Diploma and 8 + years of experience in outage planning, maintenance, operations, or power generation.
