DEPARTMENT SUMMARY

 

The Website Data Analyst will drive analysis and insights for Consumers Energy’s online experience by continuously analyzing real-time and historical data to find actionable insights to help achieve our company goals. You will spend your time constantly seeking out new optimization opportunities and insights into how our customer-facing website can be improved. You will own and refine the digital analytics tools and  be responsible for building useful reporting tools and dashboards as we continue to work towards being a truly data-driven company. The ideal candidate is highly collaborative and brings a passion for learning, testing and data-informed decision making that shapes a holistic view of our business with consideration for all aspects of the customer experience.

 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Identify performance improvement opportunities for ConsumersEnergy.com via the use of analytics and insights derived from web tools
  • Collaborate with the customer operations strategy department to achieve customer satisfaction targets by utilizing customer-provided feedback and a variety of data analysis tools & reports to identify ways to improve the digital experience for website users.
  • Drive analytical strategy for website, leveraging multiple data intake platforms to aggregate into holistic POVs and recommendations. 
  • Measure marketing & strategic initiatives by developing analyses, tracking progress, and calculating effectiveness by optimizing programs and performance
  • Identify multivariate or a/b/c test opportunities that drive fundamental improvements to the website experience and performance
  • Partner with cross functional business partners by providing user-friendly and insightful data to inform their functional areas.
  • Analyze navigational pathing and use cases on site to ensure customer’s digital journeys are as streamlined and user-friendly as possible.
     

 

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • 5+ years of experience in digital analytics and a Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field.
  • Less than a Bachelor’s degree may be acceptable if accompanied by extensive Company or industry experience in positions that demonstrate required abilities and performance.

 

This is a full time position which could be located at any of our various Consumers Energy Offices in Michigan (preferably Southeast Michigan) with a requirement to be available in Jackson, MI one to two times per week.

 

  • The following skills may set you apart from others:
     
  • Expert level knowledge of Google Analytics with strong understanding of Google Tag Manager and the tight integration between the two tools
  • Deep experience conducting A/B and multivariate tests with a focus on conversion rate and UX improvements
  • Strong understanding of analytics tagging specs and requirements with the ability to effectively communicate technical details to web development partners
  • Expertise in web analytics tools (Google Analytics, Clicktale, Sitecore Analytics, or similar)
  • Retail and/or eCommerce analytics experience strongly preferred
  • Exceptional problem solving and analysis skills, paired with the ability to communicate findings to all levels of organization & digital expertise
  • Organized – strong planner, able to coordinate complex assignments
  • Versatile – some assignments require methodical approach while others may be more “crisis” oriented
  • Great communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Leadership – assertive, confident, proactive, ability to speak up and ask questions
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic Comfortable in both team environment and working independently
  • Practical and analytical, strong problem-solving ability
     

This position will be filled at the level commensurate with the selected candidate’s skills and education using the technician job description.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Business Support Advisors and Consultants support the planning, business analysis, general management, budget preparations and analysis, negotiations, transactions, customer services and auditing of a wide variety of business functions and processes of specific operating and support areas throughout the Company.
  • Duties and who this individual reports to will fluctuate between projects, departments and offices.
  • Lead and/or assist with business analysis and support for the plans, reports, impacts, contracts, schedules, estimates, data collection, observations, and field investigations.
  • Provide business analysis and support services with accuracy, on time and under budget.
  • Use computer assisted applications software and equipment to prepare business analysis support documents. 
  • Understand and follow Company established standard procedures for file structure and standard procedures for projects.
  • Become familiar with business and department and Company plans and related material for each project and be able to utilize the information appropriately.
  • Assists in client contact and communication. 
  • Utilize effective communication skills to answer inquiries from coworkers, clients, or the public. 
  • Public involvement may include producing reports, graphics, presentations, and other visual material as well as occasional speaking or meeting with stakeholders. Attend internal and external meetings. 
  • Provide business analysis and support services in a legal and ethical manner. 
  • Regular attendance is expected. Individuals should exemplify safe work practices and follow the Company’s compliance standards. 

 

Hours and Travel:

 

This is a full time position which could be located out of any of our various Consumers Energy Offices in Michigan (preferably Southeast Michigan) with a requirement to be available in Jackson, MI one to two times per week. While not a common need the position may include providing support during evening, weekend/holiday timeframes.
