This is a hyrbid (onsite/virtual) position assigned to our headquarters on One Energy Plaza located in Jackson, MI.  The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).

 

We are looking for:   Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting Analyst

 

The Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting Analyst prepares research, assists in providing guidance on complex accounting matters, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate treatment of transactions. Monitor for new and changing accounting standards and evaluate their impact on our financial reporting. Prepare financial statements and related disclosures in accordance with regulatory guidelines and organizational policies. Ensure the integrity and accuracy of reported financial information.

 

The knowledge and skills involved with this position include but are not limited to:

 

  • Proficient with financial reporting software and accounting research tools
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of software products, Adobe applications, and other general application software
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and experience applying them to complex transactions

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related discipline with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the Finance, Economics, or Accounting related field
    • [OR] Associate degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related discipline with a minimum of six (6) years’ experience in the Finance, Economics, or Accounting related field
    • [OR] High School Diploma with a minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in the Finance, Economics, or Accounting related field

 

In this role, you will be responsible for:  

 

  • Research technical accounting issues and documents in a variety of forms (ranging from emails to formal accounting position papers)
  • Provides accounting consultation and advice to cross-functional internal partners in support of strategic business and developing transactions
  • Coordinates and prepares sections of the quarterly and annual SEC filings, including writing disclosures and obtaining, analyzing, and documenting support for financial data being disclosed
  • Monitors and implements new and emerging accounting standards, working with other departments as needed
  • Evaluate contracts executed by company for accounting issues and documents conclusions
  • Prepares subject matter specific reporting documents to meet compliance and/or control needs of business stakeholders (i.e. debt compliance certificates, debt covenant calculations, dividend calculations, legal reports, and other government reports)
  • Other non-essential duties as assigned or may be necessary
