Sr Physical Security Investigator

Location: This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday assigned to the One Energy Plaza headquarter located in Jackson, MI. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).
General Summary of Job Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor the access control system, alarms and response to alarms, respond to regulatory and life safety events, update and create badge access and physical card requests. Create reports based on incidents, complaints, and regulatory requirements. Work with all areas of the company in developing reports and responding to requests and alarms.
- Provide training on active shooter response, human trafficking, threats of violence, de-escalation/situational awareness, piggy backing/tailgating/ drug and clandestine lab recognition. Partner with Public Safety outreach in providing first responder training to Compression and Storage sites regulated by the Transportation Security Administration
- Research, test and select security equipment that improves asset protection and employee safety. Utilize cameras, card readers, video surveillance, fence intrusion detection, and GPS monitoring. Responsible for maintenance and testing in order to maintain the assets and to stay in compliance with regulations
- Coordinate and contract law enforcement for security at sites throughout the company for investigations and prosecution of suspects. Alignment with local law enforcement to adhere to Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and Nuclear Regulatory Commission annual requirements. Form relationships with our Federal, state, local law enforcement partners and with emergency managers and fire departments around the state
- Develop and maintain procedures and processes for Standard work. Manage, review, and mitigate projects submitted into the Physical Project Process. Manage physical access of employees and authorized contractors throughout the state. Deployments of portable security assets to include pole cameras, GPS units, surveillance tools, and security trailers. System support to various security applications
- Conduct security investigations and prepare plans for events and travel of co-workers in areas of elevated risk. Perform armed/unarmed security escorts for employees operating in an enhanced threat situation. Hold the required license to carry firearms and provide escorts throughout the state when dealing with threats. Provide protection for executives during events or high stress times, escorts and travel. Support requests for security during terminations or other coworker interactions. Escort crews into homes of high-risk customers. May be required to perform surveillance of subjects
- Develop Facility Security Plan to document security measures at regulatory and non-regulatory assets. Partner with Security Compliance, facilities, and gas and electric site leadership to establish the minimum level of security at each facility. Check the functionality of security equipment to maintain regulatory compliance at Company facilities. Prepare audits, inspection documentation, and ensure emergency responder alignment in order to mitigate regulatory violations and maintain an appropriate level of security
- Initiate and perform audits at facilities and prepare operational security, vulnerability, risk, and criticality assessments to identify deficiencies that may lead to security vulnerabilities. Assessments are used to determine the appropriate level of measures needed to protect the assets and employees
- Lead Investigations of theft, fraud, workplace violence, employee misconduct, damage to property, trespassing, and other crimes. Partner with corporate stakeholders and Federal, State, and local law enforcement. Mitigate to correct and strengthen the assets and protect company employees, handle high profile, confidential and sensitive investigations

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree law enforcement or related field and 4+ years of experience in physical security engineering, executive protection, event management, investigations, de-escalation. weapons, and security technology
- [OR] Associate's degree law enforcement or related field and 6+ years of experience in physical security engineering, executive protection, event management, investigations, de-escalation. weapons, and security technology
- [OR] High School diploma and 8+ years of experience in physical security engineering, executive protection, event management, investigations, de-escalation. weapons, and security technology
