We are looking for:
The Senior Corporate Strategy Consultant will shape business strategy by working in cross-functional teams to define and deliver on the next phase of businesses, products, and solutions from conception to launch. They will provide Consumers Energy with a competitive edge by analyzing business practices and devising strategies for improvement. The Senior Corporate Strategy Consultant will help to define markets, identify industry trends, and create strategies to improving performance and revenue. They will meet with business leaders to identify key areas for improvement, conduct market research, and suggest strategies to boost performance, reduce costs, and ensure industry longevity.
- Advanced excel modeling skills (skills with other modeling tools are a bonus)
- Advanced problem solving (problem definition, problem structuring, etc.)
- Strength in effectively communicating with senior executives in both written and verbal communications
- Experience with cross-functional teams
- Team-first outlook including building great working relationships with peers across functions and have a positive can-do attitude
The successful candidate will be expected to work in a hybrid status of reporting to One Energy Plaza in Jackson, MI every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday with home office flexibility on Wednesday and Friday.

- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, engineering, computer science, or related field with four (4) or more years of applicable experience

- [OR] High School Diploma with twelve (12) or more years of applicable experience
- Relevant work experience in engineering, consulting, finance, or other similar experience
Preferred skills:
- Masters Degree
- Experience in the energy sector
In this role, you will:
- Identify relevant information sources, gather, and interpret data by interview business leaders and Subject Matter Experts (SME). Meet with customers, and industry experts and potential partners on business objectives and gain insights on how to incorporate finding into strategic recommendations and present opportunities to the team.
- Collect, maintain, and analyze quantitative data (signposts) related to the company’s business environment. Perform financial, statistical, and scenario modeling and conduct analysis to draw insights for strategic decision-making.
- Identify and prioritize market opportunities, build business cases, and define product vision and strategy. through analyzing the total addressable market and creating financial models.
- Identify interdependencies and pro-actively solve issues with the appropriate internal and external stakeholders. Work collaboratively with operations, engineering, and 3rd parties to identify and design the minimum viable product/solution to solve identified problems, optimizing for speed to market.
- Collect, maintain, and analyze benchmarking and other data related to execution of the company’s strategy. Perform financial and business analysis on company strategy, develop insights and recommend any changes that may be necessary.
- Generate reports and analysis using data from multiple sources; distill work into succinct written communications with persuasive recommendations. Effectively communicate ideas to senior executives, utilizing tools and presentations to reveal key findings and insights.
- Lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects, planning requirements with internal and/or external customers, manage project schedules, identify, and clearly communicate risks and goals to project stakeholders and usher projects through its lifecycle.
- Drive internal metrics for measuring performance, quality of processes, resourcing, and ROI. Oversee the implementation of updated business strategies.
- Lead interactions with third party service providers and teams across the company.
- Manage portions of the due diligence process to evaluate investment opportunities, such as financial models and valuation, technical capabilities, and organizational maturity.
- Support deal sourcing, negotiation, and portfolio success activities.
- Other non-essential duties as assigned or may be necessary.
