Location: This position is onsite minimally 3 days a week at One Energy Plaza located in Jackson, MI. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).

The Product Designer plays a critical role in creating user-centered designs that enhance overall user experience. This position combines creativity, technical expertise, and problem-solving skills to design products that are functional, visually appealing, and easy to use. The Product Designer is responsible for driving adoption by crafting experiences that are simple, enjoyable, and effective. Collaboration with software engineers is essential to ensure design feasibility and successful implementation. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive user adoption and align experiences with business objectives.
  • Define and document user experience patterns, behavioral models, and interaction frameworks to ensure consistency.
  • Advocate for end users by conducting research, developing persona-based requirements, performing task analysis, and creating use cases.
  • Conduct usability testing and analysis to ensure ease of use across customer segments.
  • Translate insights into journey maps, task flows, personas, and design strategies that inform product direction.
  • Analyze product usage data and feedback to iterate and improve existing experiences.
  • Promote accessibility and inclusive design principles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and user experience.
  • Ability to define user flows, interaction patterns, and holistic product experiences aligned with user needs.
  • Creative and data-driven problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration capabilities.
  • Deep understanding of human-centered design principles and usability best practices.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive UX methodologies.
  • Ability to frame complex problems and propose clear, actionable design strategies.
  • Comfortable working in cross-functional environments and coordinating across teams.
  • Continuous learner, staying current with digital trends and best practices.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Human Computer Interaction, Information Architecture or Library Science, Computer Science, or a related field with two (2) or more years of experience in product design field

    • [OR] Associate’s degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Human Computer Interaction, Information Architecture or Library Science, Computer Science, or a related field with four (4) or more years of experience in product design field 
    • [OR] High school diploma with six (6) or more years of experience in product design field
