Location:
This position is assigned to the Parnall office located in Jackson, MI. Other company locations in Michigan with periodic travel to Jackson may be considered. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).
We are looking for: Principal Project Manager (Project Management System Specialist)
The Principal Project Manager oversees technology evolution and its impact on the day-to-day business operations. Manages multiple large complex projects and their impact on staff and quality of products while overseeing the work of lower-level project managers and project team members. Produces quality results by managing personnel, creating project schedules, timelines, requirements, budgets, and maximizing efficiency of resources to ensure measurable outcomes. Partners with cross-functional teams to leverage project management tools, innovative technologies, and latest software and hardware that enhance productivity. The principal project manager is responsible to manage the day-to-day tasks of each individual involved in the project and coordinate their efforts into a cohesive whole. They will prepare and present progress updates to appropriate management channels on a regular basis, ensuring the innovation and results laid out in the project plan are achieved.
The knowledge and skills involved with this position include but are not limited to:
- Experience with setting up and implementing Project Management Information Systems (PMIS)
- Working knowledge of Oracle Primavera Unifier or equivalent PMIS and other project-management-related applications (i.e. scheduling, cost estimating)
- Knowledge of traditional Waterfall and Agile Scrum methodologies and lean software development
- Knowledge of project lifecycle processes and methodologies including project governance
- Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
- Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships
- Ability to establish program goals and objectives that support the strategic plan
- Maturity, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical thinking, and leadership

- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, information systems, business administration, engineering, or related field with seven (7) or more years of applicable experience
- [OR] Associate’s degree in information technology, information systems, business administration, engineering, or related field with nine (9) or more years of applicable experience
- [OR] High School Diploma with eleven (11) or more years of applicable experience
- Prior project management experience required
- Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) or an additional 36 months project management experience (minimum 10 years of experience) required
In this role, you will:
- Serve as the Sponsor and Business representative for project-management digital tools (E.g. software applications)
- Support the design and development of changes for continuous improvement and to enhance efficiency of the PMIS platform
- Track, understand, and publish PMIS adoption, utilization, and other metrics
- Provide ongoing technical and administrative support, guidance, and training to PMIS end-users and supporting contractors
- Serve as liaison between project management, project controls, engineering, other project team members, and IT teams to ensure the system meets user needs and project objectives
- Identify key user issues, understand the impact of the issues, and manage the appropriate resolution of those issues
- Establish information technology project feasibility by examining project alignment with organization strategies and plans; completing cost-benefit and information, technology, and systems integration analyses
- Oversee the coordination and implementation of projects to effectively migrate staff from one project/process to another. Identifying potential risks and developing contingency plans in case issues arise
- Develop and implements planning for assigned projects and serves as lead contact for internal and external project partners to meet business requirements
- Manage scope, quality, timeframes, and project budget; develops and maintains feedback and evaluates information; maintains project documents and all communications
- Coordinate with quality assurance, developers, and stakeholders to ensure successful conversion and completion of all assigned projects; provides on-going maintenance and troubleshooting
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned projects, providing updates to clients and internal stakeholders on project status, changes, and risks
- Conduct quality assurance testing to ensure all deliverables meet or exceed expectations
- Review project proposals to determine feasibility and recommending next steps if needed
- Other duties as assigned or may be necessary
