Location: This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and may be assigned to the One Energy Plaza headquarters located in Jackson, MI, or the Grand Rapids Service Center, or the Saginaw Service Center. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).
General Summary of Job Responsibilities
The Manager of Co-Worker Communications is responsible for the overall execution of all Co-worker Communications, including but not limited to the management of our company intranet, digital signage, email campaigns and other communications channels. The incumbent will lay out the overall Co-worker communications strategy using external and internal benchmarking, as well as the execution of the tactical day-to-day communications. Overall leadership of the internal communications strategy is integral to achieving our EICP goals, most notably our Culture Index. A comprehensive co-worker communications plan is critical to ensuring that our company culture is brought to life and the organization can execute on its goals and strategies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Create and implement internal communications strategy that aligns with our culture. Implementation of this strategy includes aligning with executives, crafting their messages, and guiding and directing where needed
- Use data, research, external benchmarking and insights to inform decision-making related to communications improvements
- Act as advisor to stakeholders on how to best engage and motivate behaviors, attitudes, and perceptions through all communication mediums
- Use a variety of communications and modern/digital solutions to influence and support desired experiences
- Engage and partner with IT around new technology solutions to enhance and drive communications to all co-workers forward
- Other duties as assigned or may be necessary
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Ability to create communication strategies and plans that address concerns and educate stakeholders
- Understanding of media markets, public relations, crisis communications as it relates to managing the reputation of a company
- Cultural sensitivity and adaptability, with the ability to move seamlessly across diverse business groups and geographical cultures
- Proven ability to recognize and diagnose issues, work in teams, and leverage the resources of other related practices to address client challenges
- Understanding of the external communications landscape including but not limited to trends, benchmarking, and new and emerging technologies
- Ability to draw conclusions from data in a logical, systematic way
- Excellent writing skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skill and a track record of building relationships from Senior level stakeholders (C-level) to employee workgroups
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Public Relations, Advertising, or Journalism and 4+ years of experience in a communications-related field; Communications firm, advertising, public relations, internal or external corporate communications. Experience facilitating, coaching and mentoring teams specifically to drive consensus, brainstorm and/or to gather data.
- [OR] Associate's degree in Business, Communications, Public Relations, Advertising, or Journalism and 6+ years of experience in a communications-related field; Communications firm, advertising, public relations, internal or external corporate communications. Experience facilitating, coaching and mentoring teams specifically to drive consensus, brainstorm and/or to gather data.
- [OR] High School diploma and 8+ years of experience in a communications-related field; Communications firm, advertising, public relations, internal or external corporate communications. Experience facilitating, coaching and mentoring teams specifically to drive consensus, brainstorm and/or to gather data.
Preferred Experience
- Graphic design experience
- Motion graphics and/or videography experience
- Strong project management skills
