Location: This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday assigned to One Energy Plaza located in Jackson, MI.  The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).

 

GENERAL SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Platform Data Engineer plays a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our data platform using Databricks and other technologies within the Microsoft Azure cloud. The incumbent will be responsible for data pipeline design and implementation, data storage solutions, data quality, performance optimization, and automation. Provides implementation and management of 2nd- and 3rd-level technical support services to staff and customers on hardware and software platforms. Troubleshoots complex infrastructure and application platform problems, which may involve other groups such as servers, network, and information security. Utilizes automation to eliminate inefficiencies and improve the overall experience. The Platform Engineer responds to and follows up on internal and external customer support issues.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Design, implement, and optimize scalable data pipelines that integrate structured and unstructured data from diverse sources—including APIs, databases, and third-party platforms
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and/or application deployment processes
• Collaborate with development teams to support cloud-native applications
• Ensure security and compliance best practices are followed in infrastructure and platform design and configuration
• Perform moderately complex troubleshooting and incident resolution
• Learn and implement best practices for security and compliance
• Document system configurations and operations
• Support infrastructure and/or application platform operations, performance monitoring, and alerting
• Assist in deploying and managing application or infrastructure components in an on-premise or cloud environment

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
• Experience developing and maintaining Azure Data Factory pipelines and data flows
• Experience in Microsoft Azure and Databricks
• Knowledge of data catalog tools (e.g., Microsoft Purview)
• Proficiency in data processing languages, including SQL, PowerShell, and PySpark

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with two (2) years of experience supporting hardware or software platforms
o (OR) Associate’s degree with four (4) years of experience supporting hardware or software platforms
o (OR) High school diploma with six (6) years of experience supporting hardware or software platforms
