Location
This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday assigned to One Energy Plaza located in Jackson, MI. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).
General Summary of Responsibilities
The Director of the Supply Chain Business Office is responsible for driving operational excellence, standardization, and strategic enhancements across the supply chain organization to improve quality, delivery, cost, and resiliency outcomes. This role oversees governance, controls, process design, standards, learning and capability development, and supply chain risk management. The Director works closely with supply chain leadership, operations, compliance, and other corporate cross-functional partners to ensure the supply chain organization operates efficiently, complies with regulations, mitigates risk, and continues to develop the capabilities needed for a future-ready workforce in the utilities and energy sector.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Identify and monitor supply chain risks related to supplier performance, geopolitical factors, and operational disruptions, while developing mitigation strategies and continuity plans. Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to enhance resilience and ensure sustained supply chain stability.
- Design and implement a comprehensive supply chain learning roadmap that builds technical, leadership, and certification capabilities across key domains such as sourcing, logistics, and sustainability. Lead talent development initiatives and foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation through structured programs and knowledge sharing.
- Define and maintain standardized supply chain processes aligned with best practices and regulatory requirements, partnering cross-functionally to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities. Lead change management and stakeholder engagement efforts to sustain improvements and drive operational excellence using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Establish and oversee supply chain governance frameworks and internal controls to ensure compliance, accountability, and performance alignment with corporate and regulatory standards. Lead reviews and audits while tracking KPIs to measure effectiveness, cost savings, and operational efficiency.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated expertise in governance, compliance, and process improvement.
- Strong analytical abilities and proficiency in measuring supply chain performance.
- Proven track record in cost reduction, productivity improvement, and service enhancement initiatives.
- Extensive knowledge of end-to-end supply chain processes and ERP systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and change management skills.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business administration, engineering or related field with a minimum of ten years of experience within utilities, energy or other highly regulated industries.
- (OR) Associate’s degree in supply chain, business administration, engineering or related field with a minimum of ten years of experience within utilities, energy or other highly regulated industries.
- (OR) High school diploma with a minimum of fourteen (14) years of experience within utilities, energy or other highly regulated industries.
