Location: This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday assigned to One Energy Plaza located in Jackson, MI. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).

General Summary of Job Responsibilities

The Data Scientist is responsible for supporting data output processes and collaborating with business stakeholders to define requirements and data requests for strategic analytical projects. This role requires a strong understanding of organizational needs and the ability to deliver actionable insights through advanced analytical methods.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prioritize business initiatives and structure projects for optimal success, considering budget, headcount, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead analytics initiatives from ideation through production and adoption, with a comprehensive understanding of the analytics lifecycle and common challenges.
  • Communicate data science outputs effectively and contribute to the development of models and solutions that provide actionable insights for business decision-making.
  • Plan, organize, and manage resources and processes to achieve project objectives within defined scope, time, quality, and budget constraints.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or as necessary.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in data modeling, machine learning algorithms, statistical analysis, data visualization, and data engineering.
  • Strong quantitative analytics skills and structured problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to evaluate alternative solutions and approaches to complex problems.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and ability to identify project and business requirements.
  • Skilled in compiling, organizing, interpreting, and presenting data and results clearly and concisely.
  • Strong process management capabilities.
  • Logical reasoning skills to assess strengths and weaknesses of various solutions and conclusions.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Information Technology, Data Analysis, or a related field, with two (2) or more years of experience in data science, data analysis, data modeling, and business needs assessment.
    • [OR] Associate’s degree in Data Science, Information Technology, Data Analysis, or a related field, with four (4) or more years of relevant experience.
    • [OR] High School Diploma with six (6) or more years of in-depth experience in data science, data analysis, data modeling, and business needs assessment.
