We are looking for:

The Compensation Consultant will be responsible for administering the compensation programs and processes across the organization. The incumbent will plan, design, evaluate and administer employee compensation programs and provide support to People & Culture business partners and business leaders to identify and address compensation issues and evangelize CMS Energy's compensation strategy. This position also represents the client's point of view in key corporate compensation initiatives and the corporate point of view with client groups. The Consultant will possess an in-depth knowledge of market trends and internal equity practices and will be responsible for supporting broader strategic projects. 

 

  • Demonstrated business acumen required with strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build consensus across stakeholder groups
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with advanced working knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR, Business Management, or related field
  • 4-7 years’ in-depth knowledge of compensation programs including incentive, base and bonus structures; FLSA guidance and compensation impact; job analysis and organizational design support; policies and procedure building, implementation and updates
  • Master’s degree in HR or MBA, preferred
  • CCP and/or PHR certifications, preferred

 

In this role, you will:

  • Develop, implement and monitor employee compensation, to include pay for performance, salary structure design and modeling, complex costing scenarios, incentive plans, etc.
  • Review compensation policies and practices to ensure compliance with government wage and hour regulations. Analyze organizational pay practices and makes recommendations to ensure internal and external equity.
  • Create compelling competitive benchmarking analyses and evaluate jobs independently based on market data.
  • Identify problems in current compensation policies, practices, and procedures through research, and develop recommendations for solutions.
  • Serve as subject matter expert and coordinate efforts with IT, HR Operations, Payroll and other relevant departments to implement system upgrades and enhancements, as well as salary and other compensation structures.
  • Provide technical input to compensation communications and assist in communicating new and/or revised programs and initiatives.
  • Provide guidance to the business and develop creative solutions on a variety of total compensation issues including the setting of appropriate pay levels, base pay and premium pay.
  • Perform deep analysis on effectiveness and competitiveness of existing compensation programs and models potential impact of alternatives.
