Summary

 

The Customer Data Analytics team provides analytic support to Consumers Energy’s Customer Operations and Customer Experience Organizations. This support includes ad hoc analysis, Analytics Models, impact analysis, metric ownership, automation, and data migration.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

The Customer Data Analytics team is looking for a customer analytics translator that will bridge the technical expertise of data scientists with the operational expertise of business teams to help us make smarter business decisions to deliver even better products and experiences to our customers. This position will be focused on supporting our Small and Medium Business Sector and the teams that support those customers. This person will ensure that the deep customer insights generated through their sophisticated advanced analytics translate into high business value.

 

  • Create a vision for, and guide implementation of a single source of data truth and ensure that it is kept current using systematic processes across teams.
  • Provide teams with data to help build understanding and prioritization of initiatives to better serve the Small and Medium Business sector.
  • Create data visualization to socialize understanding and support problem solving
  • Develop relationships with business teams to help them leverage the value of analytics and organically build the customer analytics demand pipeline
  • Develop measurement strategies that are used to drive the visual management of the business teams’ goals and operating reviews.
  • Establish overall governance for data, including, consistent standards between data systems and recommend alignment, to ensure a consistent customer experience.
  • Ensure standards are followed through development of system audits and vendor data updates.
  • Establish definitions for data fields, data audits, and process improvements.
  • Help business leaders craft questions to generate maximum business value using analytics
  • Help data scientists/business determine problem statements; translate business questions and goals to data scientists and help them design the analytics solutions
  • Translate the analytics solutions back to the business to ensure its actionable and business can drive value from those insights
  • Help track benefits of these insights to leadership to drive adoption; manage analytics scorecard and help it become a leadership tool to drive value
  • Become a Small and Medium Business customer data Subject Matter Expert to help expedite analytics problem solving
  • Document data sources, data elements and data architecture

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • 7+ years overall business experience
  • 2+ years of demonstrable analytics experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of business, IT, or data science
  • Ability to leverage PowerBI and/or Tableau to create data visualizations
  • Strong business acumen
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills
  • Comfortable in pushing the conventional thinking to drive change and innovation
  • Work well with technical and management teams
  • Ability to translate analysis and conclusions into actionable recommendations
  • Comfortable prioritizing projects to meet deadlines
  • Acts as a role model for user and team member adoption of new processes and data-driven decisions

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Master’s degree in the field of Business, IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics
  • Previous experience as Business Analyst, Scrum Master, Project Manager and/or Data Analyst
  • Previous experience collecting and analyzing customer data
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g. SQL server, Oracle, SAP HANA, MemSQL)
  • Experience in Agile philosophy or scrum methodology a plus
  • Previous Utility experience

 

Hours and Travel:

 

This position requires the individual work at least 40 hours per week with 90% of time spent in the office/remote. Will be required to travel on a need by need basis to support the Sm/Med Business Sectors throughout CE centralized locations.

 

Essential Functions

 

Conducts a variety of standard and complex analytical functions: Data mining and cleansing, use case identification and implementation, data analysis, trending and forecasting, predictive modeling, machine learning, visual management creation and communication, statistical research; recommending and implementing modifications to processes, policies, and procedures.  Collects, compiles, and analyzes information from various sources on a variety of topics, including operational, performance, budget, and risk analysis.  Participates in the development of the corporate and departmental goals; maintains analytical toolsets; implements adjustments as necessary.  Prepares executive level reporting, presentations, summaries, and correspondence; creates comprehensive technical records and reports; Prepares staff reporting for presentation to the Board of Directors; Performs cost benefit evaluations of proposed use cases; makes determinations related to the overall benefit of use cases and alternatives; implements policies and procedures accordingly; provides ad-hoc reporting; ensures a high level of accountability on all projects; Performs long-range analytics development planning; forecasts the impacts of potential future events; provides responsible, accurate, and thorough technical and administrative project support to executive leaders; operates variety of office equipment.  Observes safe work practices and safety methods; performs other duties as assigned.  Regular attendance is expected.
