The Senior EPC Project Manager oversees complex projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget. The incumbent leads the project team, which typically consists of matrixed roles from all stakeholder areas of the organization and contractors. The Senior EPC Project Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, quality control, status reporting and closing on assigned projects to ensure project objectives are met. The Senior EPC Project Manager is responsible for all project communications, and effectively managing project risks to ensure project predictability.
Evaluate, analyze, and support design and engineering oversight for NorthStar Onsite projects, including being a technical partner to the development team
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute the Project Lifecycle Process (PLP) which includes preparation of plans, schedule planning and other standardized project management deliverables, while meeting the agreed upon scope, cost, schedule and quality objectives. Responsible to integrate safety into all aspects of the project
- Lead the project teams, both internal and external, in the planning, design, execution and commissioning for utility projects/programs, while integrating all applicable regulatory and environmental standards and procedures
- Develop and manage overall project execution plans for complex projects with a large number of integration requirements and metric tracking including material procurement, milestone payment schedules, cash flow planning, communications, risk analysis and mitigation, resource management, and others as well as manage multiple projects in various stages of the project lifecycle
- Oversees the development of project schedules with Project Scheduling group utilizing the schedule tool to include schedule concepts, constraints, integrate risks and risk mitigations, items in appropriate level of detail, track schedule process. Manage risks associated with critical path, negative float, compressed and crashed schedules. Communicate schedule to project team
- Serve as the lead in all communication and negotiation with stakeholders including preparing and performing presentations for leadership, external stakeholders, Strategic Customers and outside agencies
- Identify and manage risks, issues and constraints impacting project execution and potential reputational risk to the company. Develop contingency plans, scenario development and mitigation strategies
- Identify and recommend new processes, techniques and standards that drive performance and process improvement as well as problem solving on existing projects for process improvements
- Prepare financial forecasts and provide on-going reconciliation of resources and other related project expenditures; while taking steps to ensure projects are completed within budget
- Provides guidance to less-experienced career EPC Project Managers as needed on project governance and project management principles
- Provides input and direction into procurement strategies, contract creation, contract negotiations, execution and analysis to maximize operational and financial performance, all while reducing financial risk
- Other non-essential duties as assigned or may be necessary
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Project Management proficiency: Experienced in the Project Management Institute PM knowledge areas of: Project Integration Management, Project Scope Management, Project Schedule Management, Project Cost Management, Project Quality Management, Project Resource Management, Project Communications Management, Project Risk Management, and Project Procurement Management, Project Stakeholder Management
- Critical Thinking: decision-making, strategic thinking, trade-offs analysis, engineering or technical acumen, business acumen and contract management
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the production and delivery of energy
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
- Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of complex tactical and strategic problems. Proficient in problem solving methodology, tools, countermeasure development and detail action plan execution
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines and constraints
- Ability to connect and work cross-functionally with all levels of co-worker business partners
- Ability to appropriately communicate, negotiate, influence internally, externally, and up and down through organization

Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Applied Engineering or relevant field required
- Project Management Professional (PMP) with two years of hire required
- 4+ years experience in applied engineering or equivalent working experience
- Significant project management experience working in accordance with EPM Project Lifecycle Processes (PLP) framework to improve predictability and effectively manage project risk
