The Principal Business Development Partner for NorthStar Clean Energy applies a sophisticated combination of technical, commercial, project and risk management knowledge to complete development activities that enable the construction of renewable energy generation projects (wind, solar and storage) projects, comprising up to $150 million investment or more, within the U.S. and fulfill the Company's growth plans. Manages transmission interconnection studies, agreements and modifications for projects in the queue through development and construction. Builds and maintains positive relationships with business partners, regulators, landowners and other stakeholders to manage successful development. Assembles and manages multi-disciplinary teams of internal and external resources that support evaluation, due diligence, negotiation, contracting, and development of renewable energy assets.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Manages and completes, with support from internal and external consultants and contractors, the full spectrum development activities necessary to advance partially developed renewable assets into design and construction and eventually commercial operation while mitigating company risks
Assemble and manage internal/external teams that evaluate, acquire land rights, conduct resource assessments, interconnect, siting studies, layouts, preliminary engineering, permit, obtain community acceptance, engineer, finance, construct, operate and maintain renewable energy projects that meet customer needs
Evaluate, manage and advance transmission interconnection related activities with the transmission system operator for multiple project assets
Builds and maintains positive relationships with business partners, regulators, landowners and other stakeholders to manage successful development. Assembles and manages multi-disciplinary teams of internal and external resources that support evaluation, due diligence, negotiation, contracting, and development of renewable energy assets
Develops, maintains, and leverages strategic business relationships and networking opportunities with entities including but not limited to business leaders, professional organizations and government agencies, leading to new referral source relationships and name and service recognition for the business. Tracks and reports on progress toward successful contract execution and/or completion of development activities
Coordinates with the Finance Department on preparation of valuation financial models and provides support to the Project Management Department's execution and oversight of construction and to Operations Department's ongoing operations
Develop services agreements, major equipment purchase agreements, and other consulting agreements. engineer, finance, construct, operate and maintain renewable energy projects that meet customer needs and mitigates company risks
Successful application of renewable energy generation technology, development (siting, interconnection, resource assessment, land rights acquisition, studies, permitting, community acceptance, engineering, financing, construction, and operation and maintenance and ongoing performance and compliance
Conducts private and public meetings with project stakeholders, landowners and agencies. Conducts due diligence site visits and evaluates prospective assets for acquisition and represents the company at ongoing development meetings to facilitate on time and on budget completion of development and construction of new assets while mitigating company risks

Position Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical field or business degree with equivalent technical experience required
Master's Degree preferred
Professional Engineer (PE) (or capable of obtaining a license) preferred
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred
7+ years of overall relevant work experience required
Experience in completing from initial siting through development, financing, construction, and operation of new renewable energy or electric generating or similar facilities/assets with experience in business development, strategic planning, exceeding goals and demonstrating revenue growth is a plus
Experience in renewable or related energy development experience leading cross-functional teams of merger and acquisition, due diligence, renewable energy development, sales, marketing, finance, risk management, contracting, construction, and/or business development professionals
Experience in proposal preparation and writing, customer relationship building, brand marketing, or sales in a product or service business and/or strategic planning, contracting, engineering, construction, asset performance measurement and optimization, and/or energy development
Experience in managing transmission interconnection studies and agreements
Experience in growing customer relationships, customer satisfaction, and company business and knowledge of business development practices for a consulting business or similar business segment
Experience in managing and/or performing development activities necessary to successfully advance early to mid-stage utility-scale renewable energy development assets into design and construction and commercial operation, including representing the project at public meetings/hearings for siting approvals

Experience in contracting strategies for company procurement of and delivery of products and services to customers while achieving results and manage and mitigating risks for the company

Senior NERC Regulatory Compliance Analyst - Solar Plants - NorthStar Clean Energy (Ann Arbor, MI, US)

What you'll do:

The Senior NERC Regulatory Compliance Analyst will implement NERC compliance activities for NorthStar Clean Energy's solar generation facilities. This person is considered the site's subject matter expert of the NERC regulatory standards that are applicable to Generator Owners and Generator Operators. Provide management, oversight, direction, coordination for the implementation of NERC compliance activities that relate to equipment testing, configuration, operations, reliability, system protection, and other various electrical analyses.

This position is designed to provide compliance coordination and implementation of policies and procedures at solar generation facilities. As a key member of the operations compliance team, this candidate will have a primary role in solar generation reliability and regulatory compliance at NSCE's existing facilities and also provide NERC related commissioning oversight of new facilities.

General Summary of Job Responsibilities

The Associate System Operator is an entry-level Control Room position that will learn and demonstrate proficiency on all the tasks required to safely operate the electric grid as described in the Electric Control Center Manual (ECCM). Within the first 12 months, the Associate System Operator is training to obtain a HVD or LVD certification.After obtaining certification, Associate System Operators will be able to independently monitor, analyze and control CE's electric grid 24/7 to ensure system reliability and timely customer restoration in accordance with all applicable ECCM procedures, NERC standards and regulatory requirements. Associate System Operators are responsible for CE's High Voltage Distribution (HVD) and Low Voltage Distribution (LVD) Substations and Lines, Metro Underground Distribution Network, Grid Automation Schemes, and interconnection points with Generation and Transmission providers for both normal and emergency conditions. Associate System Operators administer switching and tagging orders and issue worker conditions, clearances and/or protections in accordance with the ECCM. Associate System Operators utilize SCADA systems to monitor, analyze and control the electric system remotely.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Respond and direct field resources during emergent outages on the electric system; conducts necessary activities to support customer and equipment restoration as required per the ECCM.
Successfully complete all HVD Operator certification or LVD Operator certification training requirements which includes classroom training, OJT assessments, and simulator tests in 12 months or less.
Administer all types of scheduled outages on the electric system; directs field personal when removing/returning electric equipment from/to service, and issues the appropriate working conditions, clearances and/or protections as required per the ECCM.
Utilizes SCADA and computer systems required to perform System Operator duties; Operates SCADA devices remotely when required.
Reviews scheduled and emergent switching and tagging orders for accuracy and compliance.
Maintain a HVD or LVD certification; successful completion of all continuing training requirements.
Position works a rotating 24/7 shift including nights, weekends, and holidays; includes a on-call assignment. Fill open shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays to maintain minimum control room staffing levels; Overtime necessary at times to support system and customer restoration.

The Fuel Supply Operator is responsible for equipment operation and record keeping duties on a variety of moderately complex systems such as: wood fuel handling, ash handling, and heavy equipment within established procedures. Also responsible for various housekeeping and maintenance tasks.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Operate fuel and/or ash handling equipment which may include wheel loaders, track driven dozers and various machinery in a safe and efficient manner
Logs significant activities and events and maintains accurate operational logs on mobile equipment
Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on mobile/fuel train equipment routinely and thoroughly. Clean mobile, fuel yard and heavy equipment, as required
Maintain a safe work environment through job planning and identification and correction of hazards
Inspect fuel deliveries for compliance as outlined in the wood waste procurement and monitoring plan

Located in the Dort-Carpenter Industrial Center near Flint, Mich., Genesee Power Station is a renewable energy facility that burns a variety of biomass materials that would otherwise be landfilled, including: tree trimmings, land-clearing residue, construction debris, pallets, spools and other clean industrial wood wastes from furniture, automotive and other manufacturers, along with municipalities and tree service companies. The plant generates steam with a single conventional ABB Combustion Engineering VU-40 hydra grate boiler. The electric output is sold pursuant to a long-term power purchase agreement with Consumers Energy. Key responsibilities include deploying advanced methane detection technologies, overseeing renewable natural gas (RNG) and nature-based offset solutions, managing operational and environmental risks, and ensuring full regulatory compliance.

This role will shape the strategic direction of the Gas Clean Strategy organization, guiding a high-performing, cross-functional team through transformative changes. The Director will champion operational excellence, innovative technologies, and collaborative stakeholder engagement to drive measurable impact across the gas delivery system.

In close collaboration with internal teams, the Director will oversee the development and application of robust performance metrics to track progress against emission baselines. General Summary of Job Responsibilities

The Sr Mechanical Engineer in Transmission Pipeline & Storage Engineering (TPSE) is responsible for pipeline lowerings and relocations associated with the natural gas transmission pipeline system. Existing pipelines may be identified shallow in depth, needing replaced and lowered, or require relocation of physical alignment to facilitate municipal developments or other third-party requests. The individual is also responsible for executing gas storage mainline, lateral or well line installations, replacements, or retirement projects located on storage pipelines in partnership with Gas Storage Engineering stakeholders.

In addition to project work, the Sr Mechanical Engineer is responsible for collaborative efforts, including formal problem solving, process improvement, standard development or maintenance and other department initiatives with varying stakeholders.

The Sr Mechanical Engineer is ultimately responsible for the development, design, installation and closeout of capital pipeline projects within the Transmission Pipeline Engineering organization. They collaborate with a team of other engineers, project managers, field personnel and design technicians on moderately complex projects to ensure that their projects meet all relevant safety standards and specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

GENERAL SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The System Operator monitors, controls and supports 24/7 operations of the electric power distribution system to meet power demands. The incumbent is responsible for the reliability of Consumers Energy’s high voltage distribution (HVD) and low voltage (LVD) electric systems to include complying with all applicable NERC standards and are responsible for analyzing and monitoring of transmission, HVD and LVD substations, lines, equipment and interconnection points with transmission and generation providers for both normal and emergency restoration conditions. Administers the switching and tagging on the CE HVD and LVD electric systems to ensure outages are executed in a safe, efficient and reliable manner as set forth by the policies, procedures and guidelines of Consumers Energy, NERC, ITC, MIOSHA, MPSC and MISO. Monitor SCADA and ADMS for conditions of lines and equipment throughout the system and makes adjustments or directs workers to make adjustments as conditions warrant. Direct field personnel to deenergize malfunctioning equipment or adjust switches to ensure the safety of maintenance crews and avoid interruptions of service during repairs. Notify maintenance crews of location and de-energization of troubled area and verifies that workers are clear of repaired equipment before directing energization of circuit.

Fuel Supply Operator- NorthStar Clean Energy (NEW BERN, NC, US)

The Power Plant Biomass (Wood) Fuel Supply Operator is responsible for operating fuel and ash handling equipment and receiving, stacking and transporting fuel and ash.  Operates large mobile equipment necessary to supply fuel to the plant conveyor system.  Inspects and performs preventative and minor maintenance on mobile equipment and conveyor systems when not fueling the plant. The Grayling Generating Station plant is a 38 MW biomass-fueled renewable energy power plant that produces electricity. The Control Technician under general supervision installs, operates and maintains all plant instrumentation and process control equipment, including distributed discrete and analog computer systems and their peripherals, controllers and process actuators. They will install, maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment, such as motors, switch gear, wiring, cables, lighting fixtures, etc.

Serve as the most senior primary contact with customers and vendors, providing expert consulting services related to tree risk assessment, tree inventory, tree valuation, and tree removal. Assess and address customer concerns, ensuring resolution.
Oversee contractor crews and monitor schedules, work assignments, and performance.
Other duties as assigned or may be necessary

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Strong understanding of tree biology and risk assessment
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and GIS software

Education & Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Forestry, Natural Resources or related field with 4 years in Forestry experience, including experience working with utility companies

[OR] Associate's Degree in Forestry, Natural Resources or related field with 6 years in Forestry experience, including experience working with utility companies

[OR] High School Diploma with 8 years in Forestry experience, including experience working with utility companies

Certifications

Required Certifications/Licensures:(Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development (MDARD) Category 6 - Right of Way Pest Management)
Required Certifications/Licensures:(Must be able to obtain Arborist or Utility Specialist certification through the International Society of Arboriculture within 120 days of hire date. )
