The App Data Analyst will drive analysis and insights for Consumers Energy’s iOS and Android apps by analyzing real-time and historical data to find actionable insights. You will spend your time seeking out new optimization opportunities and insights into how our app can be improved. You will own and refine the digital analytics tools and be responsible for building useful reporting tools and dashboards as we continue to work towards being a truly data-driven company. This flexible role is a part of the Digital Customer Operations team, and will be 100% remote initially, until such time as it is safe again to work in-person. You will then team up with your digital colleagues every two weeks at the Consumers Energy Innovation Center in Jackson, MI, working remote for the remainder of the time.






  • Collect and analyze data, identify trends and proactively communicate insights 
  • Performance improvement opportunities for iOS and Android apps using analytics and insights derived from web tools
  • Create insight-based action plans to solve identified opportunity areas.
  • Mine and extract data and applies statistics and algorithms necessary to derive insights for Consumers Energy apps
  •  Provides insights, creates dashboards, reports, competitive intelligence, and data driven recommendations
  •  Identify A/B test opportunities that drive fundamental improvements to the app 
  •  Partner with cross functional business partners by providing user-friendly and insightful data to inform their functional areas.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in analytics, statistic or equivalent field.
  •  4+ years’ online/ecommerce experience
  •  Experience in Customer Insights (CI), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), or Customer Experience (CX).
  •  Experience with Google Analytics 360, Clicktale, Usabilla and Firebase or similar
  •  Experience conducting A/B and multivariate tests with a focus on conversion rate and UX improvements
  • Understanding of analytics tagging specs and requirements with the ability to effectively communicate technical details to web development partners

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exceptional problem solving and analysis skills, paired with the ability to communicate findings to all levels of organization & digital expertise
  • Great communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Practical and analytical, strong problem-solving ability



Hours and Travel:



This is a full-time position. Base work location can be remote or, if preferred by the candidate, could be any of our various Consumers Energy Offices in Michigan (preferably Southeast Michigan). There will be a requirement to periodically be available to be available in Jackson, MI.  While not a common need the position may include providing support during evening, weekend/holiday timeframes.
