CMS Energy’s Corporate Tax Team seeks a General Tax Analyst with 4 years of experience who wants to learn and grow with us in an ever-changing energy industry.  The ideal candidate has a base understanding of tax principles; including corporate income, sales and use tax, accounting for income taxes and basic tax research.  We expect the candidate to be hard-working, display initiative, communicate well with others and be a life-long learner.

Our offices are open and we are “Together Again”.  We offer a hybrid work environment. On occasion, you will need to travel to attend off-site training sessions, meetings and between Company locations. 

Key responsibilities:

Support co-sourcing of federal, state, and local income tax returns and estimated payments preparation.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end tax provisions for CMS Energy subsidiary companies.

Assist with the unique world of energy regulation and taxation – assisting with rate cases, our corporate tax forecast and/or tax planning strategies. 

Required Qualifications:

•Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance related degree or equivalent experience

•4+ years tax experience in public accounting (Big 4 preferred) or corporate tax environment;

•Basic understanding of corporate tax preparation, accounting for income taxes and tax research;

Preferred Qualifications:

•CPA or Masters of Taxation;

•Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines;

•Experience in Microsoft Office, tax compliance and provision software; and

•Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
